Rehab Centers
Rehab centers are the premise and are the initial stepping stone for thousands of individuals starting the road to recovery.  Every year thousands of individuals battle drug and alcohol abuse and addiction and are faced with the constant struggle of trying to overcome this terrible epidemic.  Without the dedication, desire and drive of counselors and trained professionals who work in rehab centers helping people suffering from alcohol and drug addiction, citizens of this country would be devastated and filled with hopelessness and despair.  Rehab centers and their compassionate and knowledgeable staff provide the only reasonable and practical solution we have at this point in time to this debilitating and escalating war on drug and alcohol abuse.

Alcohol and drug abuse and addiction has reached an all time high and seems to only be getting worse.  With the entire country being in a state of turmoil, the burden of the seemingly endless dive of the economy with a steady rebound nowhere in sight, more and more people are unfortunately turning to drugs and alcohol.

Alcohol abuse causes thousands of deaths in the United States every year. It is the drug most commonly abused by children ages 12 to 17. Alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death in teenagers. People who drink alcohol are more likely to engage in high-risk sexual practices, have poor grades or job performance, use tobacco products, and experiment with illicit drugs. Alcohol and drug use may be an unconscious attempt at self-treatment for other problems that individuals choose not to address or confront.

You have an alcohol problem if your use of alcohol interferes with your health or daily living. You develop alcoholism if you physically or emotionally depend on alcohol to get you through your day.  Long-term heavy drinking damages the liver, nervous system, heart and brain. It also can lead to high blood pressure, internal problems, sexual problems, and diseases like cancer.

Someone with alcohol dependency may suffer serious withdrawal symptoms such as trembling, delusions, hallucinations, and sweating, if he or she stops drinking suddenly and in some extreme cases even death.  Once alcohol dependence develops, it becomes very difficult to stop drinking without outside help. Medical detoxification may be needed and most likely the individual will need the help of rehab centers to completely overcome their addiction.

In the United States, approximately 40% of adults will use an illegal drug at some time during their lives. Many people abuse more than one illegal substance at a time.  Drug dependence or addiction occurs when you develop a physical or emotional "need" for a drug. You are unable to control your use of a drug despite the negative impact it has on your life. You may not be aware that you have become dependent on a drug until you try to stop taking it. Drug withdrawal can cause extremely uncomfortable and sometimes life-threatening symptoms. The usual treatment is to gradually reduce the dose of the drug until you can completely stop using it.  Realistically, a person is going to need the help of rehab centers to completely abstain from drug and alcohol abuse for a lifetime.

Rehab Centers
Drug rehabilitation is the process of getting an individual to quit using some sort of addictive substance.  Drug addiction usually ruins the life of the individual using the drug and it tears apart the families and friendships associated with the addiction.
